Docs / Obsidian Mail Client / Calendar, People & To Do

To Do

Press Ctrl+4, or click To Do on the rail, to see your tasks.

Lists

The left side has:

  • Planned: unfinished tasks that are due today or overdue, from all your lists.
  • Flagged email: the messages you flagged in Mail. Ticking one off clears its flag.
  • On this computer: task lists kept on this PC. They work with any kind of account.
  • Microsoft To Do for an Outlook.com or Microsoft 365 account: click Connect To Do and allow access once in your browser (the same step also connects your contacts). Your lists then sync with Microsoft To Do, both ways.
  • Server tasks for an Exchange or Obsidian account: they come with the account, nothing to connect.

+ New list makes a list. Right-click a list to Rename list or Delete list.

Add a task

Type in + Add a task at the top of a list and press Enter. Ctrl+N (or Home > New Task) starts a new task too.

Task details

Click a task to see its details on the right:

  • ★ Important marks it important.
  • Completed ticks it off. You can also tick its box in the list.
  • Steps: type in + Next step and press Enter to break a task into steps. Server tasks of an Exchange or Obsidian account have no steps: Exchange ActiveSync can't store them.
  • Due: a due date. Clear removes it.
  • Remind me: a date and time to be reminded. Clear removes it.
  • Notes.
  • Delete task.

Changes are saved as you make them. Click Close to put the details away.

Flag a message as a task

Flag a message in Mail (Insert) and it appears under Flagged email. See Organizing your mail.
